Vesselglobe ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting personal data collected through our application, website and services (the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you interact with our Platform.

By using our Platform, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions and any other agreements you enter into with us.

This may include, but is not limited to, your full name, email address, contact number, company name, trade license details, business email, business background (in the case of Shipowners), and curriculum vitae (in the case of Job Seekers).

In the course of providing services, we may also collect payment-related information; however, all sensitive card data is processed securely via Stripe, our third-party payment processor.

Vesselglobe does not store any card numbers, CVV codes, or bank credentials on our servers. Additionally, we automatically collect certain information through your interaction with our Platform, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and details about your device and usage behavior. Location data, such as vessel position tracking, is collected primarily to facilitate the operation of our marine-related services and does not directly track user location unless explicitly permitted.

We also retain information arising from communications with you, including inquiries, support requests, and internal messages exchanged through the Platform. Cookies and similar tracking technologies are used to enhance your browsing experience, analyze usage patterns, and personalize content. Direct collection occurs when users register, update profiles, submit inquiries, or otherwise engage with the Platform. We also collect information automatically through technologies such as cookies, beacons, and server logs.

Additionally, we may receive personal data from third-party service providers, including analytics services like Google Analytics, payment processors such as Stripe. All such third parties are contractually obligated to process data in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations and our privacy standards.

4. Purpose of Data Collection:

4.1 Account Management: -

For the purpose of creating, maintaining, administering, and securing user accounts on the Vesselglobe platform. This includes user identification, authentication, password management, and the facilitation of account related communications.

4.2 Provision of Services: -

To enable access to and the operation of core functionalities provided by the Vesselglobe platform, including but not limited to the online marketplace, crew hiring services, and charter bookings.

4.3 Personalization of User Experience: -

To tailor and enhance the user experience by customizing content, user interfaces, and service recommendations based on user preferences, activity, and interactions within the platform.

4.4 Marketing, Promotional Communications and ads: -

The User consents to Vesselglobe’s use of collected data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to sending direct marketing communications, newsletters, promotional offers, advertisements, and other related information.

4.5 Security, Fraud Prevention, and Compliance: -

To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, breaches of terms, and other harmful or unlawful activities. This includes the implementation of appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure platform security and data protection compliance.

4.6 Analytics and Platform Optimization: -

To perform data analytics, usage trend analysis, and service performance assessments in order to enhance platform functionality, improve operational efficiency, and support decision making related to service development.

4.7 Identity and Role Verification: -

For the purpose of verifying identities and credentials in relation to specific roles or services, including the approval and validation of Shipowner accounts, in accordance with applicable platform policies and regulatory requirements.

4.8 Third Party Service Providers: -

We share personal data with processors who provide hosting, analytics, payments, and marketing support. These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data.

5. Data Sharing & Disclosure:

5.1 With Other Users: Limited data is shared to enable platform functionality for example, Shipowner contact details may be provided to interested Customers, and Crew Seeker CVs may be shared with Shipowners hiring. Only necessary information is shared, and solely for the intended purpose.

5.2 With Service Providers: We share data with trusted third party vendors who support our operations, such as analytics providers, payment processors (e.g., Stripe) and advertising networks. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data.

5.3 For Legal Compliance: We disclose data to comply with legal obligations, court orders, law enforcement requests, or to protect our rights, users, and platform security, in line with applicable laws.

5.4 For Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the business transaction, subject to confidentiality and legal safeguards.

5.5 For Service Improvement: We may share anonymized or limited data internally or with partners to analyze usage, improve features, and enhance overall platform performance

6. Retention of Personal Data and Security Measures:

Vesselglobe will retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services and to maintain a record of your transactions for financial reporting purposes. We will also retain your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

The User acknowledges and agrees that, while data will not be “transferred” to third parties for independent use, authorized administrators of the application may access such data remotely from different countries without the user’s approval. Under many data protection laws, including the GDPR, remote access from outside the country of original collection may be considered a form of international data transfer.

Accordingly, we ensure that any such access is subject to appropriate safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of user data. These safeguards may include, without limitation:

By using the platform, the User consents to such global access arrangements, with the assurance that all reasonable steps are taken to maintain compliance with applicable data protection laws and to preserve the protection of User data regardless of the country from which it is accessed.

Keeping your Personal Information secure and preventing unauthorized access is of utmost priority to us, and we take all steps reasonably necessary to protect your Personal Information against any unauthorized access, use, alteration, disclosure or destruction. We use a variety of industry-standard security technologies and procedures to help protect your Personal Information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.. You shall not hold us responsible or liable in case of data breaches caused by action/omissions beyond our reasonable control. We may use personal information provided by you in order to conduct appropriate anti-fraud checks. Personal information that you provide may be disclosed to a credit reference or fraud prevention agency, which may keep a record of that information. This is done only to confirm your identity.
